Dude, Where's My Screening Pass?

Do you...
1. live in the Boston, MA-metro area?
2. love movies?
3. have access to a car or public transportation?
4. want to save $11.50 on a movie ticket?
5. want to see movies for before they are released?
6. want to [occasionally] participate in Q&A sessions with actors, directors, etc.?
7. want this list to be over?

You answered "yes" to all seven?  Good for you.  (If not, sorry).  You're in the right place.  While I can't give you screening passes myself, I can help you get them by checking out these sites on the world wide web:

-Gofobo -- you need to sign up for an account, but this is the most popular website for attaining screening passes; if it's a "private screening," you'll have to wait for an RSVP code (from various radio stations, newspapers, etc.); but if you click on "open screening," you can see if there are still passes available for that screening
-Kiss 108 --  oftentimes, radio stations will give away passes both online and on-air
-Jam'n 94.5 --  (see above)
-Advanced Screenings -- this site doesn't give away the passes; it provides links to the websites that do (organized by movie); it's very helpful because it tells you how long ago the links were updated
-Metro -- this newspaper occasionally has contests to win screening passes; also, check the Thursday morning paper for Gofobo RSVP codes
-Cinemit Forum -- this is a Boston community forum in which local movie snobs trade passes & yada, yada, yada
-Cinemit Screenings -- this part of Cinemit lists all the passes that they will have to give away; make sure you sign up on their website, and as soon as you get an email about an RSVP for a particular screening, post a comment (as described)
-EDGE Boston -- this site gives away many screening passes, and a bunch of other cool prizes (including DVD's)
-WAAF Army -- rack up your points (by taking surveys, quizzes, etc.) and you can "buy" screening passes with your points on this radio station's website
-Mix 104.1 Freeloaders -- (see above)
-Film Metro -- lately there have been very few passing available for screenings in Boston on this site, but it's worth a peek every now and then to check
-Fat Wallet -- this forum will help keep your wallet nice & chunky; members post links to passes
-Slick Deals -- (see above)
-Boston Phoenix -- The Boston Phoenix often has contests to win screenings passes on their website
-Boston Movie Screening Group -- the Meet-Up group that started it all (beware: you will receive a plethora of emails if you join this group)
-Free Movie Screenings -- pretty self-explanatory, don't ya think?
-Buzzo Boston -- screening passes, contests, various promo events -- this is a nifty site

Also, some tweeps to follow:

If you have any awesome sites (related to Boston movie screenings) to add, please let me know!  Have fun :)

Review: Ready Player One

Tye Sheridan and Lena Waite Director: Steven Spielberg Screenwriters: Zak Penn, Ernest Cline (author as well) Starring: Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Lena Waithe, Mark Rylance MPAA Rating: Rated PG-13 for  sequences of sci-fi action violence, bloody images, some suggestive material, partial nudity, and language Genres: Action, Adventure, Science-Fiction, Fantasy Theatrical Release Date: March 31, 2018 Rotten Tomatoes Score : 75%   Clip: "The Prize Awaits" Ready Player One is, to sum up in two words, a "geek's dream."  And that is, honestly, a compliment, as I consider myself at least somewhat of a geek and adore pop culture and pop culture references.  (Why else would I have a blog?)  And Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg -- with whom you may be familiar -- has surely created an adaptation of Ernest Cline's best-selling science-fiction that is rampant with pop culture references.  I will admit that I have not read ...

Review: A Quiet Place

Millicent Simmons and John Krasinski Director: John Krasinski Screenwriters: Bryan Woods, Scott Beck, and John Krasinski Starring: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe MPAA Rating: Rated PG-13 for terror and some bloody images Genre: Drama, Horror, Mystery & Suspense Theatrical Release Date: April 6, 2018 Rotten Tomatoes Score : 95%   Clip: "Monopoly" A Quiet Place is unlike every horror movie you've ever seen or haven't seen because the trailer looked so God-awful.  I'll admit that I haven't always liked scary movies, and hated being forced to watch The Ring  with some high school friends.  But that was when I wouldn't even watch movies with lots of blood and such.  I've now grown into a person who's fully capable of watching all kinds of movies, no matter how grotesque or frightening.  But enough about me.  Quiet Place is something of a miracle, in that it accomplishes so much in the span on 90 m...

Review: Gifted

McKenna Grace and Chris Evans Director: Marc Webb Screenwriter: Tom Flynn Starring: Chris Evans, McKenna Grace, Jenny Slate, Lindsay Duncan, Octavia Spencer MPAA Rating: Rated PG-13 for thematic elements, language, and some suggestive material Genre: Drama Theatrical Release Date: April 7, 2017 On DVD/Streaming: July 25, 2017 Rotten Tomatoes Score : 73%   Clip: "Mary Solves the Math Problem" Gifted is practically manufacturing to make you weepy, to make you feel something deep.  And, for the most part, it succeeds.  From the opening scene, that displays the great chemistry between leads Chris Evans and McKenna Grace, you know what kind of movie this is going to be, and you're okay with that.  Or, at least, I was.   Smartly, the movie does not begin with unnecessary backstory/exposition or an awkward flashback.  Instead, it begins with the aforementioned scene with Evans' Frank, who is Mary's (Grace) uncle.  We don't yet ...
